TARQ launched in Mumbai in 2014 as a laboratory-incubator for young contemporary artists. It has since become a key gallery for emerging art in India, and represents artists across different mediums. From the visual arts and photography, to sculpture and textile art some of the artists TARQ works with include Sameer Kulavoor, Rithika Merchant, Ronny Sen, Philippe Calia and Nibha Sikander.

Drawing inspiration from its name, which literally translates to 'debate' or ‘dialogue' in Sanskrit, TARQ aims to create meaningful conversations around art and its myriad connotations and contexts. Aside from its exhibition program, the gallery regularly hosts walkthroughs, talks and workshops. “TARQ is an open-house invitation to anyone interested in artistic practices and questions," says the gallery's founder, Hena Kapadia.

In 2023, TARQ moved to a larger gallery space in Mumbai’s Fort area, after which Monsoon Malabar has been working closely with the team to manage their social media. We are excited to bring a fresh perspective to their communications and further establish the gallery as a leading voice in the Indian art world.
